Final Design






Objective
- Develop a 3-phase linear induction motor mount that maintains touch-safe surface temperatures below 50°C while suppressing vibrations under 0.1g RMS, all within a 250×210mm footprint.
- The mount must fully enclose inter-phase wiring while enabling smooth 15N thrust for maglev demonstrations.
Process
- Fabricated the mount via FDM 3D printing using ABS for its low thermal conductivity to passively limit heat transfer from windings.
- Integrated screw on rubber feet to improve stability and reduce vibrations to 0.1g RMS (validated via accelerometer).
Result
- Achieved stable 15N thrust operation with 48°C surface temperatures.
- Maintained inaudible vibration levels, enabling reliable maglev demonstrations.
