Autonomous Paper Plane Maker

Objective
Develop an autonomous LEGO system capable of folding an A4 paper into a paper airplane and launching it within one minute, addressing the need for efficient and safe automated operation.
Process
- Designed and laser-cut the acrylic frame
- Programmed five sensors (color, touch, ultrasonic, gyro, and motor encoder) using RobotC to enable:
- Motor speed adjustment
- Jam detection
- Hand detection near pinch points to prevent injuries
- RobotC programming
- AutoCAD
Result
- Successfully created a robust system that folds and launches paper airplanes within 15 seconds—75% time saved
- Implemented sensor-triggered activation for folding and launching
- Demonstrated mechanical system reliability across 20 demonstrations
