Objective

Develop an autonomous LEGO system capable of folding an A4 paper into a paper airplane and launching it within one minute, addressing the need for efficient and safe automated operation.

Process

  • Designed and laser-cut the acrylic frame
  • Programmed five sensors (color, touch, ultrasonic, gyro, and motor encoder) using RobotC to enable:
    • Motor speed adjustment
    • Jam detection
    • Hand detection near pinch points to prevent injuries
  • RobotC programming
  • AutoCAD

Result

  • Successfully created a robust system that folds and launches paper airplanes within 15 seconds—75% time saved
  • Implemented sensor-triggered activation for folding and launching
  • Demonstrated mechanical system reliability across 20 demonstrations
